Infectious Free4All & Mooooby Dick.

Whilst 'aving a gander at what other competitions people had entered, I came across the cool Infectious competition at their website -

Among other things, they have a competition called "Frre4All" to design a skin for various iGadgets and other tech-paraphernalia.

As i have been quite lazy thus far in looking for competitions, i was eager to get going on this one. For whatever reason, my mind immediately began drifting towards my favourite story - Herman Melville's "Moby Dick"

this story has inspired countless artworks and responses in various media. One example being some of the drawingss by Barry Moser (the one below graced my desktop as a wall-paper for a long long time)

or the dramatic drawings by Rockwell Kent


and this haunting, slightly melancholic, abstraction by Paul Jenkins


I only have 'til the end of the month so I have to get cracking.
Head down, a bit of Ahab (crazy good band who have created a concept album about the tale of Moby Dick, cover illustration by Kinuko Craft) on the CD player and get to it!
